Snap Shop DSLR Course Review {Under The Sycamore}

Hi.
I just noticed that it has been since December when I blogged last.
But not a week goes by that I don't think out loud to a friend, I wish I was blogging more.
I am not sure how or why I fell off the wagon.
Then I got an email back in December that had my jaw hitting the ground and my butt jumping in the air.
Ashley Ann had sent me an email, me little old me, seeing if I would like to take her DSLR Snap Shop Course for a review.
Two seconds later I was responding YES, but not before deleting all the excited expletives I had added, didn't want her second guessing asking me, haha.

We just finished the course and I am feeling refreshed.
Just like many of you out there my iphone has become my camera, its readily available, it takes AMAZING photos, its crazy easy to upload right to social media, and it fits right in our back pockets.

But for me I crave more out of photography.
I want to not take photos but I want to capture memories.
I want photos I can look back on and feel the moments.
I want to feel like I am creating art with my images.

And for that to happen I need to understand my camera.
I want out of that safe green box.
Because it is not the camera that makes a great photo it is how you use it in manual.

Ashley's course is designed for us amateurs to get the basics of operating in manual, using the elements of composition for getting a great shot, and telling a story.

First let me say this.
I am SO not an online course kind of girl.
I am a in yo face, hands on learner.
Which made me nervous about this.
I am not one to go on message boards and dig for hours on questions asked and try to tie them back to the course material, thats just not how my brain works.

So the relief I felt when I first logged on and saw how the course was setup was HUGE.
The fact that there is a comment section at the end of each chapter, made my life so much easier.
I like organization, despite what my desk looks like right now, I promise I like it.

Like I mentioned before this course is designed for amateurs.
If you have basic knowledge of your camera, ie ISO, aperture, and such, then its not the course for you.
But if you are just now clicking over that dial from green to M, then this is the BEST place to start.

Ashley has a great knowledge and experience, but she doesn't leave you scratching your head thinking you will never get it. She is there to answer questions and provide helpful tricks to get it down.

There are helpful printouts with areas to add notes.
And at the end of the course you get the opportunity to share your images with the group and get critiques.

I leave the course with a plan.
A plan to commit to at least one day a week putting my phone down and using strictly my camera.
It may be bigger, harder to use, more time consuming, but it gives me so much more satisfaction knowing I did it.
And I owe that to Ashley, her course has given me the confidence I needed to step out of my comfort zone and work for that image.
Looks like her next course is booked but one opening in May, so perfect time to ask for a Valentines gift!

PS:
If DSLR is not your speed but you want to nail down amazing shots with your phone, Ashley also offers up an phone course!!

Thank you Ashley for giving the push I needed!

I guess I am on a bloggie break?!

So it seems I fallen into a bloggie break without really knowing it.
Not really sure how this happened other then, summer brain has kicked into full effect.
Most days I walk about with this look on my face...

Wondering what to do now?
And lets be honest that does not create for the best blogging posts.
But do not worry about me, cause see, I have consumed plenty of these...

And done a lot of this...

With enough of this in-between to keep our toes nice and pruned...

So when I will be back into the swing of things, I am not really sure. But I hope soon.
Until then...
Catch on the flip side lovies!

Awk to the Ward

Have you ever wondered what I look like while blogging?
The wait is over...

If anything ever happens to this mug, life would be altered.
Came from original SB and even says so on the bottom.
Hope the kids do not fight over this gem as it will be gifted to them in the will.

Awkward Mommy Moments from the past couple of weeks:

- Catching a glimpse of yourself in the hall mirror, only to realize you
wore your sweatpants that say "Juicey" across your keyster to drop off your daughter
at school. Classy momma.

- Having your son in a sling in the middle of Target only to look down to see he has been
exposing you to the whole store. Then remembering that sweet old man, who was
smiling at you two secs before. GROSS.

- Playing outside with ALL your neighbor friends and your daughter telling you
"Mommy you need to comb your hair under your arms." Thanks sweetie for always
looking out.

Had any of you own awkward moments lately?

Em's sprinkle.

When I started blogging I had no clue where, what, and who was going to happen with it.
Over a year later, I can say that life is much more fulling with blogging in it.

If I had never started blogging, my neighbor friend Kathryn might not have
said you should meet my friend Emily.

Then Emily would never have come to my house for a play date, where we chatted and
she told me that her family was in the process of adopting.

Which means I would never had the opportunity to open my home to celebrate
Elsa's anticipated homecoming.

{I totally stole this photo from Em's post, she still loves me}

Emily posted more of her sprinkle on her blog post today.

TomKat Studio {True Love Found Giveaway}

Blogging has been fulfilling in so many more ways then I ever imagined possible. One of those for me has been being inspired by SO many talented woman. Kim over at TomKat Studios is a treasure trove of creativeness. I have had the pleasure of working with her a few times now. Most recently it was making a crown for her daughters 3rd birthday party. Kate's party was a garden fairy themed extravaganza!

Kim's dessert table is one I have been looking at a lot while planning Buggies, I mean how could I not. IT WAS SIMPLY ADORABLE!

The colors Kim choose were so girlie and fresh, I just loved them.

Here was Kate's crown, I am bias but I think it was pretty darn cute...

If you do not follow Kim, jump on over at TomKat Studio Blog now! I am currently hosting a giveaway of a crown of choice to one lucky winner, plus the other shops that contributed to Kate's party are hosting giveaways...

I so excited I can not even control myself...

to be sitting front of a REAL computer! It has been nearly two weeks without my laptop and I am having true withdraws. I am at my parents house right now and feel a "little" bad that I ran right for the computer after handing off my kids. Wow my mind is racing and my fingers are aching to type but what? I have so MANY MANY things to say and post about. But for right now here is a couple of photos from our Sunday Funday to Hollywood Studios {season passes are the best to Disney when you live in Orlando}.

I will be back later with a giveaway...Oh it feels so good to be blogging.
