The Cleaner Wiener {A Wienervention sponsored by Applegate enter to win}

It's not a secret that we love us some Applegate.
So when I got an email asking if we wanted to have a wienervention, we jumped at the chance to grill up some cleaner wieners.

I am one for full disclosure, with that said I am not a hotdog lover.
If given the option I would choose a hamburger over a dog.
BUT Applegates Natural uncured beef hot dog is a WHOLE other story.
I crave them.

Hubs is the proud new owner this summer of a Big Green Egg,
so any opportunity he has to use it, he throws down.

Nolan had requested corn dogs, which got me thinking...

Corn dog deconstructed, haha. He was in heaven.

Hubs had the brilliant idea of getting some Applegate Sunday bacon and having it as a topping. Because bacon makes everything better, its the truth.

Grilling dogs + water slides = prefect summer hangs.

Topped our evening with a sweet treat of ice cream bowls.

Applegate would LOVE to extend a kit to one of you!!

Included:

   Applegate Naturals Beef Hot Dogs
-  Rudi’s Hot Dog Buns (White and Gluten-Free)
-  Annie’s Organic Ketchup and Mustard
-  Rick’s Pick’s Relish
-   Applegate Apron
-   Grilling tool set
-  Frisbee
-   Mini Applegate Cooler
 - Susty paper straws and napkins

To enter leave a comment, letting me know what would be your Hot dogs + _______ = perfect summer evening. US residents only. Open til midnight on Jul 25.
Good luck.

Applegate Pizza Party in a Box Giveaway

It's no secret I LOVE me some Applegate.
I mean I did a whole lunch series with them back at the beginning of school, I buy their Sunday Bacon in bulk at our BJ's, and I always have some form of their cheeses on hand
{another not so secret, I LOVE cheese}.

When I heard they had come out with new mini pepperonis in turkey and pork options, I was stoked.
And my excitement continued when my Pizza Party in a Box arrived.

When I pulled all the goodies out and said to the kids its PIZZA night, they responded with
"Can we have calzones?"
Um, sure why not.
Cause pepperonis aren't just for pizza right?!

A little bit of important info on these tasty bites that will make you feel good about feeding them to your clan:

-100% vegetarian grain-fed pork or turkey - no fillers
- No antibiotics
- Less fat and sodium than conventional brands
- Made from humanely raised pork and turkey
- No hormones
- Perfect on pizza, salads, a meat and cheese board, and just snackin’

We leaned towards the turkey, thats not to say the pork isn't delicious.  But I think since we have been using turkey pepperonis for so many years it was just a taste and texture we were more use to.
And yes I have a "fancy" calzone maker.  It's really not necessary but the kids love to flip it and cut the excess dough off so we use it.

And for a little extra veg option I also made zucchini boats. Simply half and cut the ends of, then scrap the seeds out.  Fill with sauce, add you pepperonis and cheese and bake with your calzones or pizza.

All in all I think Applegate has another home run on their hands.
And they want to send one lucky person their own Pizza in a Box to see for themselves!

Box includes:

·         Both varieties of new Applegate Naturals Mini Pepperoni and Provolone Cheese
·         King Arthur Flour Pizza Crust Mix (also available in Gluten Free!)
·         Small batch tomato sauce
·         Recipe for mini pizzas
·         Pizza cutter
·         Kitchen towel
·         Apron

Just leave a comment below.

Prairie Hen Knit Scarf Giveaway. {Sep 26th thru Oct 2nd}

Happy Monday!
I have no Pinterest Party Project today, boo.
But I do have a great giveaway from a super de duper friend of my mine.

See when I say friend I mean a IRL {in real life} friend.
Not just a friendship made over the internet that has not hope of making it to the real life realm. Even though we met through blogging, twitter, and IG, it turns out we live in the same city. And share A LOT of the same interest and tastes, its kind of freaky...

Like when we showed up for a little date and we both were wearing mouse ears, we called it an "unintentional nerd alert". It was pretty funny getting out of the car and seeing her turn around in the parking lot.

Another reason I love Sara so much, is she is one talented chickadoo.
She is so patient and has taught me how to crochet!
Our littles get along too, which makes life that much more fun. Do not tell Sara, but I think Lilly and Bean might have a future romance together, thats if I have any say in it!

Sara has a cute shop on Etsy, Prairie Hen. Where she sells her crocheted and knit goodies.
Like these yummy cowls...

And these versatile circle scarfs...

Sara would like to give one lucky duck a circle scarf of their color choice!

Here is how to enter:
- Go off to Prairie Hen and mark it as a fav, then come back and like us know what color you would pick "when" you win!

For extra entries {one per option below}:
- Skip on over to Prairie Hen the blog and become a follower, I would highly recommend it since Sara shares her products there before they go in the shop and special offers and discounts.

Pie, its what for dinner {what we ate Wednesday, with a mini giveaway}

Ever wanted to test a theory.
Not one of those silly science fair ones you had to do as a kid, cause lets be honest has knowing wether a brick would reach the ground faster then an egg ever come in handy?!
No this theory is MUCH more important.
The hypothesis:
"If I stick ____ in a pie crust, then will it make it taste better?"
For todays test we are using shepherds pie. I mean come on PIE is in the name.

What you will need:
- 1 lb ground sirloin
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup onion diced small
- 2 to 3 carrots peeled and diced small
- 2 garlic cloves diced
- 1 tsp worcestershire
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary chopped
- 1/2 cup frozen corn
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- pie crust
- salt and pepper
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour
- olive oil

Over medium high heat add 2 tbsp of olive oil to large sauce pan. Once heated add carrots and onion. Cook for about 3 to 4 mins until brown.

Add meat, salt and pepper to taste. Cook until meat is cooked through. Then add the flour and mix well. Add chicken broth, herbs, worcestershire. Cook over low heat until thickened, about 2 to 3 mins.

Add corn and peas and cook for another minute.

Then take you mini pie maker, wait you do not have a mini pie maker?! Ha, not sure why I have one, other then it was in my stocking last year! But you can totally do this by hand. Now some of you "Martha's" out there will scoff at my pre-made pie crust, but if those generous people over at Pillsbury want to make pie crust, then the only nice thing to do is use it!
Ok back to the recipe.
Cut the premade stuff into 4 quarters.

Lay on side down and add filing.

And top with another piece, and press. Or if you are hand making, crimp the side and trim...

Bake pre your box of pie crust. Make sure to slit the top. And if you are feeling sassy, brush some melted butter and sprinkle with cheddar cheese. Makes about 8 individual pies.

So what did we learn today kids? Putting things in pie form, DOES make it taste better.
Hypothesis, PROVEN.

And not to be left out our dessert had to come in the shape of a pie.
Peach Pie to be exact.

What you will need:
- 4 peaches {peeled and cut into bite size pieces}
- sugar {1/4 cup}
- lemon
- 2 tbsp butter {with a little more melted for brushing the pies}
- dash of cinnamon

In a non stick pan over medium high heat, melt butter and sugar. Add peaches, about a tbsp of lemon juice and cinnamon. Cook for around 5-6 mins or until peaches soften but are still a smidge firm.

Oh and I forgot to tell you, my little pie maker, has a lattice on one side!
Fill and press.

Bake pre pie package instructions. Brush a little melted butter on top and sprinkle with a little bit more sugar.

Then serve warm with some vanilla ice cream...

Want to know something REALLY crazy. Somehow I have TWO, count them TWO, mini pie makers. Cause really I totally need two right?!
NOT.
So I would love for this unopened one to come live with one of you!

I will randomly pick a winner from all the comments left on this post.
You have until Friday!

Our weekend and a NEW winner picked...

Saturday came and we hit the ground running.
First up Buggie and Daddy had a daddy daughter date at Lowes Build and Grow Workshop.
They made tow trucks, she was super of proud of herself, as we were of her.
They get patches to go on their aprons showing what activities they have completed, she
can not wait to go back and get more. Plus this was on our summer fun list, so she got to mark it off...

Then Hubs and I went on a day date.
And I had some big hair for our day date.
Ikea, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, and the golf store.
I came home with a $9 lampshade and about $100 worth of stuff for everyone else, just the way I like it...

Sunday we tackled some home projects. One of which was to change a few things in Buggies room. First thing was to hang a print on her door that my girlfriend Leonora from Yellow Heart Art made custom for her. I asked her to make my favorite saying of Buggies in a print. The part I love the most is at the bottom where she put -Avery age 5.

Then we hung some sheer flower curtains I had gotten at Ikea on Saturday and a new rug from Target. And she could not be more happy with her "new" room.

Then off to dinner, at a Teeppnyaki restaurant. Where McQueen got front row seats to the volcano show. Teeppnyaki can be stimulation overload for me, a self professed people watcher.

Then is was baths to get the aroma of dinner out of our skin and hair.
I love this kid...

And before I leave to get back to this guy...

I need to pick a NEW winner for my blog anniversary giveaway...

Christina, you know where to find me to claim your prizes!
