DIY Christmas Cork Board Card Holders

This past Thursday I had the privilege of attending The Meet and Make hosted by the ridiculously cute Sarah Hearts.
And upon our arrival we were given swag bags and among they adorable items was some Christmas wrapping paper from HelloHeyYo

I immediately thought there was no way I was going to be able to cut it up, tape it, then sit back and watch someone tear it up and throw it to the ground.
Yes, I was that in love.
To set my heart palpations at ease, I came up with a little DIY ensure future use and viewing pleasure of the paper.

Ok side note:
When I started this I thought the tacky spray would be a good call, which much to my frustration it was not.  Do just pretend that is not even in the photo below.

Get you some awesome HelloHeyYo paper
Cork boards, I got a 4 pack from Target.
Mod Podge and foam brush
And a coordinating spray paint.

First thing I did was lay the boards on the paper to figure out the best layout.  Then traced them on the paper and trimmed.

The paper was going to be a little short so I spray painted the edges gold when I sprayed the other to boards.

Take a good amount of mod podge to the boards.  Then lay paper down and mod podge the tops.

Dry and hang with some 3m strips.
As you can see in the photo below, my top left one got some serious creasing.  This is the one I used the spray adhesive on. Insert my frustration.

These boards are our new card holders.
Just a little straight pin action to hold them in place.

The paper is seriously amazing.
And Rebecca has so generously offered a $5 off a $25 purchase.
Enter HELLOJELLYBEAN
And you have til Dec 13 for a Christmas delivery time.

PS:  This is totally not just a Christmas project.

Before I go, here is our fam bam card for this year.

ENJOY!

So I totally suck.

Remember that super cute Christmas card I made?
I sure hope you all were not holding your breath for yours to arrive.
Cause you might be needing an ambulance right about now.

BUT you can expect a UBER sweet valentines day card from the Holgersens.

Sure hope this redeems me among the grandparents!
*side note* I suck at sending thank you notes too, much apologizes.

{this was my first purchase from tiny prints and the process was WONDERFUL, highly recommend and will be back}

From our home to yours.

Here is how every single conversation I have had this week started:
"So are you ready? You know it is next week?"
One more week.
Thats it.

{wish i could send EVERY single one of you a card, but not sure if Hubs would
like that stamp bill}

I am sad.
Sad that all the holiday commercials are ending.
The Christmas music will cease to pump out the mall speakers.
That all the twinkling lights will be wrapped up and stored until next year.
And that the fresh pine smell will not linger anymore.
All those nonstop Christmas movies will stop streaming through the TV universe.
Too fast, time has gone too fast.
Sad, I tell you.

So I guess I should ask.
"Are you ready?"

Perfect Spot for Cards a DIY {and other tid bits}

Here is how this went down.
"Hey Hubs whatchadoin with that base board in the garage?"
With one eyebrow up, Elvis style, he says "Why?"
"I was wondering if you could make me a frame out of it? Then attach some
chicken wire to the back of it."
After another one of those Elvis eyebrow looks.

The next question was what size.
And to this I responded "Um, let me see." {searching searching}
"Ah this will be perfect." {at this point, no joke I was holding a roll of wrapping paper}.

Once he had done all the hard part {the chicken wire even attacked him at one point}.
I took a can of white spray paint and painted the wire.
Then sprayed the frame red.
Done and done.

But of course I did add some embellishments.
Now who will be the first to send us a holiday card to hang?!

{I printed the festive subway art from Eighteen 25}

Did you notice I used some maraschino twine from
The Twinery to finish it off. That's so wonderful about their products,
there is SO many uses. Remember 25% when you make a purchase, just note
BUGBEAN25 in comments good through Dec 10th!

I did make the trees from yesterday's post. It was just foam cones and LOTs of yarn, glue sticks and time. Wrapping and wrapping and more wrapping. A tutorial would be VERY boring.

Man oh man I love making me some yarn wreaths. This was one of the two I gave my step Mommy. I loved the clean, crisp, snowy feel.
