Mom in the Shot Day 4 {An Anderson Crew Challenge}

Buggie had her last day in her class today, very sad.

But they celebrated the last day with a water day {hence the exhaustion on her face} and sundaes!

Love these little people!

Few things on my mind.

Have you noticed a trend with my Mom in the Shot photos?

It has a name.

Momtail.

I am in this weird in between stage of growing my hair out.

After Bean came, my hair changed.

Now everyday, I pull it back.

I have VERY naturally curly hair, would you have guessed from my photos?

I DISLIKE this about me right now.

So I made an appointment.

And tonight I say "Hair today, gone tomorrow!"

Hum, can not wait for Mom in the Shot for tomorrow.

Have you ever seen this before?

Yellow watermelon?!

When I came across it at the grocery store, just had to grab it.

It is just as juicy and sweet as its counterpart.

But it takes a minute to process what you are eating.

Watermelon screams summer.

Mom in the Shot Day 3 {An Anderson Crew Challenge}

Recipe for a Mommy Sandwich.

Ingredients:

- A Buggie

- A Mommy

- A Bean

- Lots of Love

- Tons of Laughs

PS Emily, this challenge has given me a new best friend. The timer.

And I should have used some under eye concealer. WHATS UP WITH THE RACCOON EYES?!

While dinner cooked, we did this.

I loved how velvety smooth, bright, and cheery it made the chalk. It was like a whole new experience. Soak it ladies, you will not be disappointed!

My Dad has started a FB fan page for his boat. I know sounds funny, but they travel a lot with it and do some MAJOR fishing.

So this page is a place for him to share pictures, tournament information and much more.

He is an amazing cook, the type that can make up recipes. This is something I have been working on.

Now some of his followers are sharing recipes and this one caught my eye, so thought I would share.

Baked Fish Bag

Serves 4

4 Scaled fish fillets (about 8oz each) (I prefer Tilapia or another mild white fish for this particular dish)
Salt and freshly ground pepper
¼ cup olive oil
¾ cup dry white wine

Marinade
1 good handful of pitted black olives
1 clove of garlic, peeled and finely chopped
½ small dried red chili
1 good handful fresh basil, marjoram, or both, roughly chopped
2-3 tablespoons of your best extra virgin olive oil
20 cherry tomatoes, halved and quartered
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt and freshly ground pepper

Directions
First, make the marinade for the tomatoes. Put the olives into a bowl with the garlic, herbs and oil. (Smashing the olives with your fingers as you put them in the bowl) Add the cherry tomatoes and toss. Set the marinade aside for no less than 15-30 minutes before seasoning it. Then add the lemon juice and seasonings to taste. (This keeps for about a day in the fridge if you want to marinate it longer, but it’s not necessary) You also can add sun-dried tomatoes at this time to intensify the flavor if you wish.

Take a piece of aluminum foil approximately 15 inches in length. Place a quarter of the tomatoes and marinade in the center of one half of the foil. Season the fish with salt and pepper. Lay it gently on top of the tomatoes. Fold over the foil and seal two sides by folding over tightly but gently to hug the fish. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a quarter of the white wine and seal up the remaining side. Repeat the process for the remaining 3 filets. Preheat your oven to 475 degrees. Bake for approximately 10-15 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to stand for 3-4 minutes without opening the bag.

To serve, place an unopened bag on each plate and let you and your guests open your own bags and remove the contents yourselves.

{I started yesterday. Bean and I.}

It saddens me when something good has to stop.

One of my most favorite morning coffee reads is shutting down.

Oh My Handmade Goodness has become too much of a second job for its creator, Sara.

So now I am pleading for someone to buy it!

It truly is a stunning blog, chopped full of of wonderful tid bits.

Time to share Jellybean's Room

When we created Bean's room I wanted it to be an easy transition room. I love the idea of decals and the options they give. But unfortunately our walls are SO textured it is impossible to use them. We decided to the next best thing and have a mural done {same artist who did Buggies room}. Once we chose robots we ran with it.

I loved our modern simple crib from Babies R Us.

Since we did robots, I had her paint this R2D2 behind his door as a surprise for my Hubby.

His dresser came from Ikea, great deal. And the rug is also from Ikea, $14.99! I was going to get this one, but when I found this at Ikea I was SOO happy!

How cute are these guys?! They came from Modern Pop, I just love them.

He has a border around the room, with rockets, "space junk", satellites and other spacey things.

We used shadow boxes {which were spray painted} to highlight some of Hubby's old toys and new things for Bean.

I purchased a Serena & Lily houndstooth crib sheets, reminded me of something robotic.

We are very happy with how his room turned out. It makes me smile everytime I walk in there, I know he will have great memories in it.

Not the jealous type but...

when I have been logging into FB it has been hard not to be when seeing the pictures my cousin has been uploading on her trip to Greece. Anita is currently in Greece {leaving today for Italy} with her husband and three of their 5 children.

To say her and her daughters pictures are picturesque is an understatement. Anita is no newbie to traveling, herself a former flight attendant, her husband still working as one {he runs a leg from Hawaii to Japan as head flight attendant}, and the fact that they have 5 children which they have traveled all over the states with makes them black belt travelers. So Anita recently wrote a six part series of traveling for families on her blog. I encourage you to read this in-depth series, even if you do not have immediate plans to travel.

Anita has plans once she returns to tackle tons of parenting topics on her blog. As I mentioned she is the Mom of 5 children, all of which she has home schooled, raised with an appreciation of others, service, and family. This Mom has a lot to give, I hope you follow her along her sharing way.

One day I will make it to Greece, but for now I live thru these pictures.

Superhero Blaster Cuffs {Tutorial}

We live in the world of imagination. And one thing that happens everyday at our house is dress up time. So when Buggie was running around the house this weekend in her superhero cape blasting us with her arms, I thought of this post. Here is what I used to make Buggie her own superhero blaster cuffs!

- 3 Felt sheets {at least three different colors}

- Fabric glue

- Hot glue

- Needle and thread

- Tape measure

- Jewels {if making for boys you can skip this one}

- Velcro

First I measured her wrist {so tiny}. I added 1/2 in to the measurement.

Then I cut the felt the width of the measurement. {the length depends on the look you want for them} I did mine longer so the flared at the open ends.

Testing the width out on her wrist.

Then I added the velcro to the end with hot glue. And cut small felt squares for the buttons.

And two larger pieces for a flap.

Then I hand stiched the flap to the cuff.

Here is the flap attached to both cuffs. And then under the flap I added the blue buttons with fabric glue and on each button put a jewel with hot glue. I also added a piece of velcro to close the flap.

Lastly I cut lighting bolt shapes and used fabric glue to adhere them.

They turned out pretty cute for a 20 min craft!

Um, the stuff all over her face was face paint crayons, I guess it added to her super hero persona!

Watch out she is going to blast you with her gamma rays!
